(Sprint Triathlon and Novice Triathlon)

Sprint (750m pool/20km road/5km) — limited number of entrants.
Novice (400m pool/5km MTB/3km) — limited number of entrants.

How to get there Ferry (Caledonian Macbrayne) from Wemyss Bay (Tel: 01475 520521). Ferry departs for Rothesay every 45 minutes (approx.), with 35 minutes crossing. The triathlon H.Q. is the local swimming pool, a 10 minute walk from ferry. Parking There is limited parking in the Swimming Pool car-park and nearby area.

Program Upon arrival, please make your way to the Swimming Pool where you should register and be issued with:-

  • Race Number
  • Safety Pins
  • Colored Swim Cap
  • Heat Number and Swim Lane details

The Race Approximately fifteen minutes prior to the Race Start the Race Director will call a Briefing of the final race details. No Helmet-No Race. No drafting on the cycle route - remain 5 bike lengths or more apart. Only authorized persons allowed into the Transition Area during the race - Marshals & Athletes. You MUST obey the Highway Code on your bike at all times.

After The Race Shower and change in the swimming pool area. A Prize-Giving will take place as soon as all participants have completed their event: prizes awarded for category winners; all the participants will receive individual race mementos. Buffet will be provided.

The Swim SPRINT: 30 lengths/750m
NOVICE: 16 lengths/400m
The Rothesay pool is a shallow 25m pool, so diving start not permitted. There will be four lanes for the swimmers, with the Sprint event going off first in as many heats as is required.

The Cycle SPRINT EVENT: Bikes to be racked in car-park outside swimming pool. The route is 20 km of quiet country roads; the course is hilly. It is an out and back route with a marshalled dead turn in the road. There are entrances to several farms on the circuit so (unlikely) possibility of dirty and gritty surfaces in places.
NOVICE EVENT: This is a mountain bike (or at least wide tyres) circuit, combining some sections of run circuit, road and dirt/gravel track.

The Run After the change-over at the pool car-park the run is a circuit around the adjacent park (SPRINT: 5km, NOVICE: 3km).
